Fox Township celebrated July 4th on Sunday
FOX TOWNSHIP-Hundreds of families gathered on Sunday beginning for the annual Fourth of July celebration at the Fox Township Park for an afternoon of fun, games, food, vendors, and free bounce slides and houses for the kids.
There were clear blue skies and moderate temperatures with a nice breeze that kept the attendees from getting overheated in the bright sunlight.
This annual tradition goes back many years and is one of the largest celebrations in Fox Township every year. The ever-expanding Fox Township Park grows each year, from the playgrounds to the sports fields to the summer program there always seems to be something going on at the park.
Vendors set up early and by 5 p.m. hundreds began arriving to take in all the fun at the celebration. Children enjoyed the inflatable bounce houses and slides, balloon animal sculpting, the plastic duck races, and of course, the expansive playgrounds.
For adults there was plenty of food and drink vendors, a live band, and more entertainment as everyone got ready for the main event of the night, the fireworks at dusk.
For the public to enjoy the full show, the lights in the park were shut off shortly before the opening volley of fireworks and remained off until the grand finale was completed. Patriotic music accompanied the fireworks with a show lasting about 20 minutes. Squeals and excitement of the children in attendance and much laughter and appreciation of several of the high-flying, specialty fireworks punctuated the night, as all those in attendance enjoyed the celebration.
