Weichman takes on new role with Salvation Army Elk County Service Center
RIDGWAY - The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division announced the appointment of Hope Weichman as the Director of The Salvation Army’s Elk County Service Center on Wednesday.
Weichman, who was the Deputy Director for Life and Independence for Today (LIFT) for 18 years, will begin her new position on July 18.
“I’m looking forward to this new opportunity to use my knowledge and resources while continuing to fulfill my commitment of serving my community through the Salvation Army,”
Weichman said.
Barbara Whitehouse, advisory board chairperson for The Salvation Army Elk County, said Weichman’s years of experience in social services will be a valuable asset to the Salvation Army.
“With her years of experience and dedication to the region, Hope will be able to help us continue to have a positive impact on the lives of those we serve,” Whitehouse said.
The Salvation Army has outreach programs available to all vulnerable residents of Elk County, such as emergency food assistance, project Bundle-Up, back-to-school readiness, residential summer camp, Christmas assistance (including Angel Tree) and Emergency Disaster Services support.
Majors Ronald and Marilyn Heimbrock, who have served as the Corps Officers for the past three years at the Ridgway Worship and Service Center, will be taking on new responsibilities as Corps Officers in Corry, PA.
Whitehouse explained that the Ridgway facility will now only be a service center, which will enable the Salvation Army to do even more for Elk County.
“This new model will allow us to be better stewards of the generous financial gifts we have received, and donations will go directly into services that will best serve the community,” she said.
