ST. MARYS - The Elk County Republican Party headquarters officially opened in downtown St. Marys on Tuesday.

Elk County Republican Party Chairwoman, Sally Geyer said the headquarters, which is located at 110 S. Michael Street, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays depending on how much volunteer help they can obtain to man the office. Voters can stop by the headquarters to obtain Republican Party yard signs and informational literature during these times.

The party will hold its first official meeting of this election season on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at The Big Trout Restaurant in Weedville at 6 p.m.

At the meeting, the party will give updates on the campaigns of candidates, Dr. Mehmet Oz for Senate and Colonel Doug Mastriano for Governor and the re-election of Representative Mike Armanini and GT Thompson for Congress.

Geyer said the public is invited and are encouraged to come discuss the upcoming election and its candidates.

“We’re wide open with dialogue. It’s not a closed place and anyone can come to say their peace,” she said. “We learn things because when you let people speak you can learn things.”

Geyer added that some of the information they’ve been gathering from those running the campaigns is that often the various election polls are not necessarily reflecting what is happening in reality.

“We’re learning not to listen to the polls because they are so off,” she said. “We’re learning to listen to the people with the boots on the ground.”

Geyer said she has been hearing from campaign managers and workers that Oz is leading by 10 points with independent voters.

Elk County Coordinator for Mastriano, Dave Sperandeo said Mastriano is currently on his bus tour of the state with a commitment to visit all 67 counties. Currently, Mastriano has visited about 50 counties having visited with voters during the Elk County Elk Expo last month.

“On November 8th, we’re going to take our state back with future Governor Mastriano leading the way,” Sperandeo said. “We’re confident we’re going to win it back.”

At the upcoming meeting, Sperandeo will talk about his recent trip to the Trump Rally, which was held held September 3 in Wilkes-Barre.

The Elk County Republican Party will also discuss its Fall Banquet set for Sunday, Oct. 23 at The Red Fern in Kersey and the Fall GOP Meeting set for September 2324 in Harrisburg.
