Over 400 compete at Ridgway tourney

-

Ridgway wrestling hosted a round-robin tournament on Jan. 28 that drew over 400 wrestlers from 22 programs.

Forty-five local grapplers competed in the Open, Novice, and Junior High categories.

"It takes all the parents and volunteers to make it happen," said John Costion, one of the program's coaches. "It was great the kids all helped out and did a wonderful job, especially at the scoring tables once they were done wrestling for the day."

There are over 50 young athletes involved with JOs – a great sign of things to come for the sport locally.

"I go way back in wrestling and really enjoy coaching," said Costion. "So, it's fun being around to teach the young kids. It's cool to see them picking up on things and becoming good wrestlers because they are the future."
