- By Bob Parana Staff Writer

St. Marys senior Carter Chadsey is among the first four Pennsylvania players announced for the Aug. 5 Big 30 Charities Classic at Parkway Field in Bradford.

Joining Chadsey (WR, DB, 6’2”, 195 lbs) on the Keystone State roster are Port Allegany’s Noah Archer, Lucas Laktash from Bradford, and Eisenhower’s Benji Bauer.

Coaches will be announced soon.

The Classic is in its 50th year, and the game is its 49th. There was no contest in 2021 due to COVID-19.

Last year PA, led by 1998 Johnsonburg graduate Justin Bienkowski and his Port Allegany staff, won 27-13 to take a 23-22-3 lead over New York – it’s first since the game started in 1974.

Chadsey, who plans to attend Penn Tech to pursue a career in Manufacturing Engineering, is a three-time letterman for both football and track. He was the Offensive Player of the Year for the Dutch, who finished 7-4. Chadsey had 48 catches for 747 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense, he had three interceptions.

The soon-to-be St. Marys graduate was named to the all-state squad and was a District 9 All-star twice. An honor roll student, Chadsey said he is looking forward to playing in the Classic because of the camaraderie and friendships created by being part of the game. While looking forward to playing one last time on Aug. 5, the Dutchman said his favorite memory was beating Karns City for the first time in school history in 2021 when he caught the game-winning TD.

Chadsey’s hobbies include spending time with his daughter, friends, and family and playing sports and video games. His favorite team is the Buffalo Bills, and his favorite player is Stefon Diggs.

Archer (RB/WR, CB/S, 5’9”, 160 lbs.), who will attend college to study Sports Management, was a key to the Gators District 9 Class A championship and a trip to the PIAA semifinals while going 12-2. He rushed for 970 yards and 12 touchdowns and caught 66 passes for 870 yards and eight TDs. He also had four interceptions.

Bradford’s Laktash (5’8, 165 lbs.) was selected as a wide receiver and middle linebacker, and Eisenhower’s Bauer (6’0”, 190 lbs.) as tailback and linebacker.

Selections for the Aug. 5 game will be announced weekly.

Since 1974, the Charities Classic has raised $1.9 million for charities and those in need in McKean, Elk, Cameron, Potter, and Warren Counties in Pennsylvania and Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties in New York.
