House To Home in Ridgway ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday
RIDGWAY - The House To Home location in Ridgway will be celebrating its one year anniversary of opening on 315 Center Street on Thursday. The ribbon cutting will take place at 1 p.m., and hors d’oeuvres will be offered after the ribbon cutting.
House To Home is an extension of Square One Community, which is a non-profit dedicated to helping people in need in a variety of areas.
Angel Smith, who serves as the regional director of the House To Home stores, said a location was brought to Ridgway to give community members a more broad option for used clothing.
Smith also brought up the fact that some students in the Elk County school districts have been utilizing this location to pick up formal wear for school dances.
House To Home accepts donations of gently used clothing and furniture in stable condition. Donations are welcome to be brought to the location at any time from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
House to Home is a partner of local agencies such as CAPSEA and Children and Youth Services of Elk County to provide free furniture and clothing to the clients with referrals from those agencies.
This location is open to any community member that chooses to use it, and the monies generated go towards Square One Community programs that assist those in need.
One of which is their Celebrate Recovery program, which aims to aid those struggling with physical or mental challenges, as well as addiction.
The second program they offer is their Beyond Mom program, which helps support, mentor, and encourage women that navigate through motherhood.
Currently, House to Home is located within a space in the TriCounty Church, and hopes to expand in the future. Through the first year, Smith mentioned that local agencies are utilizing their services more as time goes on, and inventory for the store comes and goes at a rapid rate.
