Mountain Fest 2023 sees significant turnout

- By Jake Mercer Staff Writer

RIDGWAY - This year’s version of Mountain Fest was as popular as ever with over 6,000 people that came through the old tannery building over the three day event.

That number does not include the vendors themselves, musicians, and children under 12.

President of the Elk County Wilds and Tourism Association, (ECWTA) Julee Marzella, expects the event to grow even more next year, as nearly all of the vendors are interested in returning along with dozens of new vendors being interested in attending one of Ridgway’s biggest events.

This is exciting to hear, but with that comes the need of more volunteers to help with Mountain Fest as it continues to increase in its popularity.

Marzella also expressed a desire to add more board members to the ECWTA and play active roles in volunteering to help for the event.

“We need people that would be dedicated and want to serve the community,” Marzella said.

She added that people with a background in event planning, grant writing, a CPA, (Certified Public Accountant) or an individual that has experience in contracting would be welcomed assets to the ECWTA

board.

If the event does not have an infusion of volunteers going forward, then the event will be very difficult to sustain.

“Many hands make light work,” Marzella said. “If we had more help, it would just be much easier for people to pitch in here and there.”

The ECWTA president thanked everyone who came and supported the event, along with all the vendors, musicians, and volunteers.

The work of the ECWTA to put on Mountain Fest is greatly appreciated and does not go unrecognized.

Overall, Mountain Fest 2023 was a huge success that brought in people not just from Elk County, but folks from other areas of Pennsylvania and outside of the state as well.
