ELK COUNTY - Accidents can happen every day on Pennsylvania farms, so the Women's Leadership Committee of the PA Farm Bureau sponsors a safety coloring contest every year to raise awareness of common accidents.

The theme for this year's Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Safety Contest is "No Seat, No Ride," which highlights children wanting to ride on the bumpers of tractors or other farm equipment outside of the standard seat of the vehicles.

The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) Safety Coloring Page Contest is open to youth ages 4 to 18 with three different age categories. The contest is not limited to children or grandchildren of Farm Bureau members, but all entrants must be Pennsylvania residents.

For the 4 to 6-yearolds, the grand prize is a $25 Visa gift card with a second-place $15 Visa gift card. For the 7 to 12-year-old category, the prizes are a $50 Visa Gift card, with the second-place winner getting a $25 Visa gift card. For the 13 to 18-year-olds, the grand prize winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card, with the second place prize of a $50 Visa gift card.

The coloring contest will be judged on the appropriateness of coloring, appearance, and coloring within the lines. For the 4 to 6-year-old category, only the provided coloring page will be accepted, which can be downloaded online at: www. pfb.com/safetvcontests. All entries must include the following information on the back of the coloring page or poster and be included with any video submission to be considered eligible: child's name, address, phone number, home county or submitting county, age category, and parent name(s).

For the 7 to 12-yearold category, they must create their own poster using the theme "No Seat No Ride" and will be judged based on the following categories: dimensions: 5x11 inches, must be in color, a slogan:-ten words, or less, which addresses the theme, and originality, and creativity. No tracing, collages, or 3-D drawings will be accepted.

For the 13 to 18-yearold category, it must be a video submission with a length of 30 to 60 seconds. It will be judged on content-educational information based on the theme. The video must have been taken within the last 12 months and will be judged based on the contest theme's quality, composition, and clarity. A signed video release must also be included with video submissions.

All Elk County submissions must be sent to Michelle McMinn, In Care of the Elk County Farm Bureau, 985 Long Level Road, Ridgway, PA 15853. Counties will choose one winner and submit that winner to the PFB Office. Of the entries received in the PFB office, a first and second-prize winner will be selected. Firstprize winners and their parents will be invited to the PFB annual meeting in November, which usually takes place at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA. The deadline for submission is June 1, 2023.
