RTMA holds final meeting of 2024
RIDGWAY-The Ridgway Township Municipal Authority (RTMA) held its final meeting of 2024 on Thursday evening beginning at 7 p.m. A budget work session preceded the meeting, beginning at 6 p.m. The budget will be passed at the first meeting of 2024, the January 4 reorganization meeting. Following its passage, a budget copy will be available for public viewing at the municipal building.
Audits were completed in the past month for 2018 and 2019 of the RTMA. This is a requirement of being the recipient of a PennVest loan application. Both years were found to be compliant with all budget objectives. Engagement letters were sent to PennVest by the Hanes & Company Auditing firm.
The Financial Report was approved with no changes by the board, and the bills for payment were approved with no changes or questions. The RTMA finances will be in good shape at the end of 2023, and the new proposed budget will continue the trend.
Under the RTMA Operations section of the meeting, they reported on two sites that were chosen for Coliform presence testing and passed, as did the other test sites for chlorine residuals in lines under the DEP (Department of Environmental Protection).
A shut-off valve and meter were replaced by operations personnel on Grant Road, along with four XTRs at the meter pits, and three meters were replaced at various locations in the system. Operations also located sewer laterals at the Royal Inn, allowing a new customer to access the RTMA systems. A water meter and waste curb stop were completed for a customer on Bingham Road. Finally, a two-inch meter was installed at AAM on Steis Drive, with the cost being reimbursed by the customer.
Already preparing for next year, the board of RTMA has decided to apply for the Elk County Commissioners Act 13 program in February of 2024 for a transfer switch on the Boot Jack water tank.
The next meeting of the RTMA will take place on January 4, 2024, beginning at 7 p.m. at the headquarters on 1537A Montmorenci Road in Ridgway Township. The public is encouraged to attend.
