DeBrum cam­paign gets record $5,000 elec­tion do­na­tion

The big­gest sin­gle do­na­tion in Man­teca’s his­tory was made this month by the Pun­jabi-Amer­i­can As­so­ci­a­tion of Man­teca to the re-elec­tion cam­paign of Mayor Steve DeBrum. The $5,000 do­na­tion tops the pre­vi­ous record of $4,000 the same group gave to Debby Moor­head in her un­suc­cess­ful run for mayor in 2010 against then in­cum­bent Wil­lie Weather­ford.

Un­der new re­port­ing laws that re­quire do­na­tions of $1,000 or more to be filed within 24 hours fol­low­ing the end of the first cam­paign re­port­ing pe­riod on June 30, DeBrum also re­ceived $2,000 from Man­teca Trailer and Mo­torhome as well as $1,000 apiece from the Real Es­tate Store/

Port Freight. That brings

DeBrum’s cam­paign do­na­tions so far to $24,249.

His chal­lenger Ben Cantu has re­ported an ad­di­tional do­na­tion of $1,200 from Pe­dro Oropeza. Cantu has now raised con­tri­bu­tions — mon­e­tary and in kind — of at least $13.275.

Coun­cil­man Mike Morowit picked up an­other $3,000 — $2,000 from the Pun­jabiAmer­i­can As­so­ci­a­tion of Man­teca and $1,000 from Shin­ing Star Trans­porta­tion. Morowit’s run­ning to­tal is now over $12,700.

Jose Nuno also re­ceived $2,000 from the Pun­jabi-Amer­i­can As­so­ci­a­tion of Man­teca. He

has sur­passed $24,000 in do­na­tions.

Nei­ther David Bre­it­en­bucher nor Chris Silva re­ceived do­na­tions of $1,000 or more that would re­quire a re­port to be made within 24 hours.

Cantu hold­ing Town Hall on Face­book this Fri­day

Man­teca may­oral can­di­date Ben Cantu is hold­ing a Face­book Town Hall on Fri­day, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m.

At that time, Cantu will be broad­cast­ing a live video on his Face­book page, where view­ers can tune in and ask him ques­tions in re­al­time dur­ing the broad­cast. The video can be ac­cessed at Face­­tu4Mayor at 6 pm. Fri­day.

Cantu will be tak­ing ques­tions on a va­ri­ety

of is­sues, in­clud­ing Down­town, pub­lic safety, home­less­ness, and road main­te­nance. He prom­ises to an­swer ev­ery ques­tion posed by mem­bers of the pub­lic. Fundrais­ing din­ner for Bon El­liott state se­nate cam­paign Sept. 14

Todd and An­nette Rod­dan are host­ing a din­ner event for San Joaquin County Su­per­vi­sor Bob El­liott who is run­ning for the Cal­i­for­nia State Se­nate.

The din­ner will take place Fri­day, Sept. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at New Buds Nurs­ery, 23563 South Man­teca Road, Man­teca.

The din­ner buf­fet is $125 per per­son. The event is busi­ness ca­sual at­tire.
