State’s Latino Film Series Features Freedom Writers
The next film in the Latino Film Series at The State Theatre in Modesto is the Richard LaGravenese film Freedom Writers. A true story that’s worth telling, the film follows a dedicated California teacher as she tries to unify her disadvantaged, racially divided students. Hilary Swank and Patrick Dempsey star in this engaging inspira- tional drama set during the time of the 1992 race riots in Los Angeles.
The movie is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. and The State is at 1307 J St., downtown Modesto.
