The Secret of the Souk

One of Marrakech’s largest private homes is hidden away in the Dar El Bacha neighborhood—it’s called, aptly, the Secret. The owner, an Italian businessman, bought 21 riads in 18 months, then worked with local craftsmen to create a masterpiece by hand, from the wall tiles to the furniture.

The swimming pool, lined with Bisazza tiles, is one of the riad’s focal points. OPPOSITE: The jagged skylight over the pool echoes its rose-inspired mosaic, an homage to Marrakech’s nickname.
