SCHILLER EFFECT

The schiller e ect in feldspar crystals is caused by submicroscopic crystals that form in parallel twinnings with each crystal plate alternating with those next to it. This creates a di raction grating e ect so when light strikes the feldspar surface it is spread and colors are visible.
