Searching for a cover photo is always fun. It’s a time to be creative and let our wonderful magazine shine. is month, Mother Nature in all her glorious intricacies provided a cover photo that pulls triple duty as it highlight’s Bob Jones’ article about calcite, amethyst from Moira McGhee’s article about stones that help relieve stress and gets close to Helen Serras-Herman’s new favorite color, Very Peri.

Speaking of photos, don’t forget to share some of your own with us on Instagram and Facebook and tag us @rockandgemmagzine or #rockandgemmagazine. We love to see what you’re up to!

I recently got in on the tagging fun. I found a beautiful agate while shopping and immediately thought of our popular What Do You See posts. I saw an ocean forest of kelp in the rock and was curious what other people would see. I snapped a quick pic and put it out there for the world. Sure enough, other people saw far more than my kelp bed. Below are some of the comments.

“A patch of snow-covered trees framed by a glorious blue sky.”

“A wheat eld in the summer heat.” “A frozen lake with a re ection of trees.” “Volcanic eruptions ripping through our atmosphere in the early years of our planet’s development.” So share those photos! ey’re a great way for all of us rockhounds to stay connected. Here’s to seeing you online!
