Stan Finds a Home in Abu Dhabi
One of the most complete and well-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever discovered was christened Stan. e prepped and assembled skeleton sold at auction to an anonymous bidder in 2020 for a record-setting $31.8 million.
at anonymity has ignited all sorts of speculation over the past couple of years. Rumors included elite Hollywood stars and dot com moguls from Silicon Valley seeking a nice conversation piece to grace a foyer. Professional paleontologists lamented they might never see Stan again. Lament no more!
As reported to National Geographic magazine, you—along with those professional paleontologists—will be able to see Stan up-close-and-personal in 2025 at a brand new natural history museum being constructed by the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi. If that’s too far away for your travel budget, you can always visit Stan’s sister Sue at the Field Museum in Chicago.
