Cara Marie Farr Keller

ROCKFORD - Cara Marie Farr Keller, 84, of Rockford Il, died peacefully in her sleep July 25, 2023.

She was born April 29, 1939 in Springfield Mo.

After graduating from Hyde Park HS, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree at Chicago Teachers College and her master’s degree at the University of Illinois. She was a lifelong teacher to so many of us!

Preceded in death by her husband Roger A. Keller, parents Thomas S. Farr and Alta M. Blakely. Survived by her children Daniel (Terri), Mark (Lisa), Gregory (Carie) and Karen Horning (Tim); sisters Raye Linda Farr, Debbie Farr, Donna Hemann, Alisa Dawn Donson, Diana Carter and brother Stanley Farr; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and so many loyal friends.

Cara lived in Hickory Hills for most of her life, before moving to Rockford Il with Roger in 2015.

She was a teacher, gardener, musician, artist, singer and quilter. She and Roger worked together in the Hidden Pond Prairie Restoration and she was one of the best neighbors that 91st Place ever had!

Thank you to all of the nurses, CNA’s, transportation staff and kitchen helpers at Wesley Willows for being there for Cara these past few months. Thank you to everyone at DaVita on Rockton and Northwest Transport.

A special thank you to Dr. Richards and everyone on his team at Mercy Health/Rockton. Cara could not have asked for a better group of people to be with her through 35 radiation treatments and everything that followed. You are all so very special.

A memorial service is scheduled for November 25, 2023 at 3pm at Second First Church, 318 N. Church Street Rockford, IL 61101, followed by luncheon at the church. All are welcome.
