90 (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
ARETHA FRANKLIN 1967
Carole King and her husband/songwriting partner Gerry Goffin wrote “Natural Woman” specifically for Franklin at the request of producer Jerry Wexler in 1967, shortly after “Respect” and “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I
Love You)” turned her into a superstar. It came together in their suburban New Jersey home over just a few hours, after their kids went to bed. “Hearing [Aretha sing it] for the first time, I experienced a rare speechless moment,” King recalled. “To this day I can’t convey how I felt in mere words.”
