DON’T START A PODCAST

Really. Just don’t. There are loads of quality podcasts out there, and loads of half-assed blather that should have stayed in the can. Podcast glut is one of the most dangerous health issues facing our nation. If you do nothing else with your year besides not starting a podcast, congratulate yourself. Podcasts are like fanzines, bands, marriages, or Lars von Trier movies — starting one can seem like a cool idea, but keeping one going is a lot of plodding work. That’s why the airwaves are full of dead podcasts, the ghost malls of the podcasting world, fizzling out after a couple of episodes, like so many Geocities or Angelfire pages.
