Making Stories Jump Off the Page

Crafting a great design solution comes naturally to Caleb Bennett, a visual artist who has worked at Condé

Nast Traveler and The New York Times Magazine, and served as the design director at WIRED. Across the March issue, Bennett deployed bright colors and playful typography concepts while honoring Rolling Stone’s vivid design history. For “Llena de Poder” (page 40), he tapped typographer Juan Carlos Pagan, who is of Puerto Rican descent, to help emulate the art typically used for reggaeton albums. Those flourishes, Bennett says, made the design “feel bespoke to the magazine.”
