Restaurateurs to open Waterclub in Cave Spring
A couple, who also have restaurants in Atlanta, plan to open Waterclub Restaurant on Feb. 14.
Lured to Cave Spring by its landmark fresh water spring and what K.C. Myers calls “breathtaking scenery,” Jeff and K. C. Myers will be opening the Waterclub Restaurant on Feb. 14 in what was formerly known as Bennett’s Steakhouse, 18 Broad St. in Cave Spring.
Jeff Myers owns a couple of restaurants in Atlanta, including Top Flr and the Sound Table. Top Flr has been recognized as one of Atlanta’s hot new wine bars, while Sound Table has also won critical acclaim in a number of publications.
K.C. Myers said the couple had to fix up a few things that were broken and do a lot of cleaning, but they are looking forward to being open in time for a big Valentine’s Day dinner at 7:30 p.m. Customers can make reservations in advance at waterclub. reserves@gmail.com.
“We’re here because of the water initially,” K. C. Myers said. “We thought we’d just be sophisticated with the name ‘ water’ and turn it into Waterclub.”
She said the couple looks forward to creating a restaurant that will serve as a special meeting place for those who visit Cave Spring.
The Cave Spring City Council has already approved a beer and winepouring permit.
Cave Spring Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Skyler Akins said he worked aggres- sively to recruit the couple.
Now Akins is working to recruit new members to the DDA board in Cave Spring. Positions formerly held by Linda Hall, Rochelle Howard and Larry Dolan all need to be filled, and Akins is accepting applications at his office in the historic Asbury House, 4 Rome Road in Cave Spring.
The remaining four members — Rip Montgomery, Nancy Boehm, Nellie Mccain and Pete Mathis — are expected to make recommendations to the Cave Spring City Council for appointment later this month.
Citizens must either live in Cave Spring or have an “economic interest in the revitalization of downtown Cave Spring,” according to the enabling ordinance.
