Tigers take down Devils

Darlington’s offense rolled to 513 total yards, and the defense made big play after big play as the Tigers topped Bremen 4020 Friday night at Bremen.

Trey Edge scored three touchdowns for the Tigers, while compiling 148 yards on 15 carries.

Quarterbac­k Hunter Manning rushed for 80 yards on seven carries and one touchdown. He also completed seven of nine passes for 119 yards and two more touchdowns.

Manning and the Tigers got the scoring going in the first quarter when he hit Jake Walker for a fouryard touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

Bremen answered the score when Andrew McInvale scored on a one-yard dive to tie the game at 7.

Edge scored twice more for the Tigers in the first half on a 30-yard run and then he recovered a teammate’s fumble and rumbled 12 yards, giving Darlington a 20-14 halftime lead.

Manning led the Tigers on another scoring drive to start the second half, culminatin­g with his 13yard touchdown run.

While Edge and Manning did tons of damage on the ground, Darlington defender Jake Maxwell terrorized Bremen quarterbac­ks intercepti­ng three passes on the evening.

Maxwell’s third intercepti­on of the night set up a 50-yard touchdown run by Edge, giving the Tigers a 33-14 lead. Manning would find Robert Muschamp for the final touchdown of the evening for the Tigers.

Bremen ( 0- 1) hits the road next week to take on Hapeville- Charter, while Darlington ( 1- 1) gets a week off.

The Tigers return to action Sept. 12 when they play host to King’s Ridge Christian.
