Police investigating attempted armed robbery at North Rome grocery
Rome police were investigating an attempted armed robbery of a North Rome grocery store early Friday.
Police said the on- duty clerk at Tony G Grocery, 1403 N. Broad St., fired a “warning shot” at three black male suspects before they left empty-handed.
According to Rome police reports:
Police responded to the North Broad store at 1 a.m. Friday morning in reference to a possible armed robbery.
The owner told the officers that three black men — one of whom had a gun — had walked into the store and attempted to rob the on-duty clerk.
The clerk said he then took out his own gun and fired one shot into the floor behind the counter as a warning shot.
The three men then ran out of the store and fled the scene on foot.
The clerk could not provide police with a more detailed description of the three suspects. Police look for 2 in Armuchee robbery
Floyd County police investigators said late Friday that they were still looking for two male suspects who robbed an Armuchee gas station early Wednesday:
According to Floyd County police investigator Sgt. Ojilvia Lom:
Two black males with hoodies and masks walked into the Kangaroo gas station, 4350 Martha Berry Highway. One of the men pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.
The men then left the store with cash and cigarettes.
Lom said two men left the store on foot and possibly got into a small silver car of an unknown make and model.
An exact amount of cash taken was unknown late Friday.

North Heights locks down after threats A North Rome elementary school was temporarily placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after a youngster riding his bicycle said he had been threatened by a man with a gun.
According to Rome police reports:
At around 1: 40 p. m., police were called to North Heights Elementary School, 26 Atteiram Drive, to search for any suspicious person in the area.
After searching the area, police found a juvenile in a nearby cemetery. The youngster told police that he and his friend had been riding their bikes on Atteiram when a man he knows only as “Jordan” pulled up behind them in a gold fourdoor Chevrolet sedan.
The juvenile said “Jordan” followed them up to the school and then threatened them with a gun.
The school was placed on lockdown until the police arrived. No arrests were made.

Reports: Man fled from officers twice A Rome man was being held on $10,100 bond Friday after fleeing from police twice in the last two weeks, according to Floyd County Jail reports. According to the reports: Kevin Richard Autry, 29, of 912 Oakland Ave., is charged with felony possession of cocaine after a glass pipe containing suspected cocaine residue was found in the floor of a vehicle where he was sitting.
Autry was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by an officer on Aug. 18 near the intersection of Lavender Drive and Springdale Drive.
When the vehicle stopped, Autry got out and ran from the scene. When officers attempted to arrest him Thursday night near Shorter Avenue and Leon Street, he fled on foot again but was caught.
Autry is also charged with two count of misdemeanor willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, and a seat belt violation.
Task force makes drug arrests A Rome couple were released from jail Friday after the Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force allegedly found drugs in their residence, according to Floyd County Jail reports. According to the reports: Bobby Leon Brock, 32, and Aubie Leigh Ann Duncan, 18, both of 29 Elmwood St., are each charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute following the search of their residence Thursday night.
Officers found several bags of methamphetamine in the home, along with digital scales and a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue.
A rifle was in a bedroom around the drugs, and there were prescription pills not in a labeled container, as well as marijuana.
Both Brock and Duncan are also charged with felony possession of a Schedule IV drug, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession and use of drug- related objects, drugs not in the original container, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Man gets pills using false birth date A Rome man remained in jail Friday after he was able to get prescription pills in a deceptive manner, according to Floyd County Jail reports. According to the report: Randy Len Warren, 58, of 707 River Ave., got a prescription of 60 Oxycodone filled at the CVS pharmacy at 3365 Martha Berry Highway by using another person’s date of birth.
Warren is charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor theft by deception.
