Dynamite, meth found at Firetower Road house
Floyd County police reported finding drugs and dynamite when they went to a home on Firetower Road to serve a Cobb County arrest warrant.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Bobby Lee Davis, 45, and James Kuykendall, 45, both of 174 Firetower Road, were being held without bond Tuesday night.
During a search of their residence late Monday, Floyd County police found methamphetamines, marijuana, scales, smoking devices, a firearm and two devices that appeared to be half-sticks of dynamite.
Davis, who was wanted by Cobb authorities on drug charges, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of a destructive device, along with misdemeanors for the marijuana and drugrelated objects.
Kuykendall was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a parole violation and misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects.
Police: Felon had gun in vehicle
A Taylorsville man stopped on Shorter Avenue by Rome police was jailed after police found a firearm in his vehicle.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Danny Gene Hatfield, 45, of 21 Watters Road, Taylorsville, was stopped by Rome police on the 1900 block of Shorter Avenue Monday.
Documents available Tuesday do not indicate what prompted police to stop the vehicle.
Hatfield was charged with a felony for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.
Hatfield remained in jail Tuesday pending the posting of a $3,500 bond.
Woman accused of theft from restaurant
A Rome woman accused of taking bank deposits from Long John Silvers, 811 Shorter Ave., remained in jail Tuesday, pending a $9,000 bond.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Laquita Darrita Johnson-Hargrow, 45, 17 Lyons Drive, is charged with felony theft by conversion for bank deposits from the business totaling almost $8,000 in April.
Johnson-Hargrow turned herself in at the jail Monday after learning that a warrant for her arrest had been issued.

Rome man charged with meth possession
A Rome man and woman remained in jail Tuesday without bond after being accused of having methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Ricky George King, 55, of 8 Morningside Drive, was arrested Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Nixon Avenue and Myrtle Street after police stopped him because his passenger, Rome News-Tribune
TREE BLOCKS CEDAR AVENUE: Leroy Minter runs a backhoe to help clean up debris and remove a huge tree that was blocking the 400 block of Cedar Avenue Tuesday morning. Another half of the tree fell on the house in the background, but no one was injured.
Bobbi Lynette Wright, 44, of 9 W. Main St., was not wearing a seat belt. King had methamphetamine in his left front pocket. Wright had crack cocaine in her jacket.
King is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.
Wright is charged with felony possession of crack cocaine and misdemeanor seat belt violation.
Rockmart man facing weapons charge
A Rockmart man remained in jail Tuesday without bond after being accused of running from a traffic stop and having a firearm.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jatavious Markel Smith, 22, of 237 Litchfield Drive, was arrested Tuesday at 4:27 p.m. at the intersection of East 17th Street and Maple Avenue after he got out Doug Walker / of the passenger side of a car that had been stopped for a traffic violation and ran away from police.
He ran for a block before officers caught him. A gun found in the floorboard of the passenger side of the car belonged to Smith, who is a convicted felon.
Smith is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
