Roman arrested on drug charges following execution of search warrant

A Northeast Floyd County man was arrested Friday afternoon on multiple felony drug charges after Rome Floyd Metro Task Force personnel executed a search warrant at his home.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Robert Lee Clay, 63, of 1481 Wayside Road, was jailed at around 6:20 p.m. after narcotics agents carried a search warrant to Clay’s residence and found cocaine, methamphet­amine, scales, smoking devices and a firearm.

Clay is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine, felony possession of methamphet­amine with the intent to distribute, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of drug-related objects. He was being held in the Floyd County Jail Friday night without bond.

3 arrested on meth charges

Three Floyd County residents remained in jail Friday night after their arrest on felony drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Debra Marie Jones, 28, of 318 Reeceburg Road, Silver Creek; Jonathan E. Sutton, 31, 282 Park Ave., Lindale; and Shane Lewis Hartley, 36, of 131 Teat St. in Lindale, were all arrested shortly before midnight Thursday in an area of Crane Street, between East 14th and East 15th streets.

Reports indicate little other than all three were caught with an undisclose­d

amount of methamphet­amine and charged with felony possession of the drug.

Hartley has his case bound over to Floyd Superior Court and was being detained in jail without bond. Bond on the drug charge was set at $5,700 for Sutton, however a bondsman also withdrew an $11,200 bond he had posted when Sutton had been arrested on previous charges.

Jones was granted a $10,100 bond but remained in jail late Friday.

Man accused of stealing rent

Russell Mostella III, 46, of 6 Spruce St. in Rome, was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with felony theft by taking.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Mostella was employed by a Silver Creek real estate company. He is alleged to have collected $260 in rent from an individual who lived in a unit on Wax Road back on May 16 but keeping it for himself.

The real estate company learned of the theft when it started eviction proceeding­s.

Mostella was being held Friday without bond.
