TV Top Picks This Week

-

Don’t Miss: MTV Video Music Awards — Adele, Drake, Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Britney Spears are all expected to be in the house for this year’s ceremony, which is being held at Madison Square Garden for the first time. But unless Kanye does something ridiculous again, the night’s real star figures to be Beyoncé. Queen Bey leads everyone with 11 nominations, including video of the year for her bold and visually striking “Formation.”

9 p.m., MTV.

Other bets Sunday: Ready to get creeped out by “The Strain” again? Season 3 picks up two weeks after the events of last season’s finale. War has broken out between the citizens of New York City and sinister vampires known as the strigoi. 10 p.m., FX.

Monday: On the midseason finale of “The Fosters,” Callie (Maia Mitchell) steps up her efforts to get the murder case of former foster brother Kyle to be reopened. But her persistence lands her in a precarious situation. 8 p.m., Freeform. Tuesday: It’s summer finale time for “Pretty Little Liars,” so expect some kind of gaspinducing cliffhanger. The episode, we’re told, involves “a chaotic fight that ends fatally.” 8 p.m., Freeform. Wednesday: On the Season 3 premiere of the brutally funny “You’re the Worst,” Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen (Aya Cash) adjust to life in the wake of that surprising “I love you” declaration. We don’t foresee smooth sailing. 10 p.m., FXX.

Thursday: There will be robot blood during the Season 2 finale of “BattleBots.” Tonight’s action starts with eight competitors looking to capture the ultimate prize: The Giant Nut. And, no, we’re not making this up.

8 p.m., ABC.
