Annie Elizabeth Mathis Grigsby

Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Mathis Grigsby, 88, of Rome, passed away on December 8, 2016.

She was born on April 24, 1928 in Chattooga County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Ross Mathis and the late Grace Owens Mathis. She was a member of Oostanaula United Methodist Church. Mrs. Grigsby worked for 42 years in the food service at Berry College and retired as manager of purchasing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, George B. Barlow and Charles Grigsby; her son, Jerry Selman; her granddaugh­ter, Amber Selman; her brothers, John, Robert and Weyman Mathis.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, her son, Mark Barlow (Pamela) of Jacksonvil­le, FL; her daughters, Betty Nolen (Jessie) and Wanda Whitlock (Barry) both of Rome; her grandchild­ren, Philip Nolen, Christophe­r Whitlock, Scott Whitlock, Kyle Barlow, Caleb Barlow and Ashley Selman; her 5 great grandchild­ren; her sisterin-law, Ellen Mathis and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 3p.m. at Oaknoll Chapel with the Reverend Warren Causey officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2p.m. – 3p.m.
