Reservations for the 2017
Pot Luck of the Irish, hosted by the Lochs and Hills Celtic Association, should be made by Wednesday. The event will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Heritage Hall, 415 E. Third Ave. All guests should park in the lot behind Heritage Hall that is accessed from Fourth Avenue and enter through the side door marked “Security Office.” For the meal, Lochs and Hills will supply corned beef, cabbage, Irish potatoes and Irish soda bread. All guests are asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to add to the meal. Entertainment will include the Ceilidh Celtic Ensemble and Rome’s Drake School Irish Dancers. The Rome Rotary Club will meet Thursday at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave., at noon. Pastor Douglas Crumbly will speak about End Slavery Georgia’s efforts to end modern-day slavery.

Mercy Care will offer a free Work Preparedness Class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friday at Mercy Care, 300 Chatillon Road. Work Preparedness teaches job seekers how to identify and market their skills, match their skills to jobs that are available, how and where to network with employers, develop and polish a resume and more. The class is designed for those 40-54 years old but is available to a limited number outside those ages. Must register to attend. The Exchange Club of Rome will meet Friday at noon at the Palladium on the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, 69 Church Street. The program will be the Youth Speech Contest.
The Big Fibbers
Storytelling Festival will be held Friday through Sunday in Trinity United Methodist Church’s Martha King Building, 606 Turner McCall Blvd. Friday night at 7 p.m. will be the Big Fibbers contest, with 16 storytellers vying for the title of Biggest Fibber. Admission is $10. Saturday at 2 p.m. is the Debby Brown Young Tales competition featuring students from area schools; admission is free. At 5 p.m. is “Nothing But The Truth,” a program of true and personal stories featuring tellers from Rome, Atlanta and beyond. Admission is $10. At 8 p.m. is a showcase featuring nationally known tellers Carol Cain and Natalie Jones. On Sunday at 2 p.m. is the final program with a variety of tellers; admission is free.
