Shawna Reed Gunn

Ms. Shawna Reed Gunn, age 46, of Cave Spring, died unexpected­ly Sunday, April 9, 2017.

Ms. Gunn was born in Rome, February 11, 1971, the daughter of Gary and Luan Taylor Reed.

Ms. Gunn attended Cave Spring School, and was a graduate of Coosa High School. Prior to becoming disabled, she was associated with AT&T and BellSouth.

Ms. Gunn is survived by her two sons that were the love of her life, Hunter Gunn of Cave Spring and Hayes Gunn of Piedmont, Alabama. Her parents, Gary and Luan Reed and her brother, Kevin Reed all of Cave Spring also survive.

Memorial services for Ms. Gunn will be held Monday evening, April 17, 2017 at 7 p.m. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with the Rev. Dale Byars officiatin­g.

Rev. Lavonne Humphrey, age 45, of Summervill­e, passed away Thursday, April, 13, 2017.

Lavonne was a native of Floyd County Ga. born Oct. 12, 1971 to Rev. Horace Humphrey, and the late Joyce Wilbanks Humphrey. He was employed by Best Gloves, in Menlo. Lavonne was ordained as a Minister on March 14, 2004 by Rev. James Storey, he Pastored West Summervill­e Baptist Church from 2006 until 2016, also Pastor, at Calhoun Avenue Baptist. Lavonne was raised to Master Mason at Coosa Lodge #622 F&AM January 26, 2004.

Survivors include, his son, Cody Humphrey, Summervill­e; fiancé, Tammy Parker, father, Rev. Horace Humphrey, Rome; brother, Lemarr (Regina) Humphrey, Rome; sister, Denise (Jeff) Crane, Cedar Bluff; grandfathe­r, Herschel Rose, Rome; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jim VanPelt, officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Clifton James, best known for his indelible portrayal of a Southern sheriff in two James Bond films but who was most proud of his work on the stage, has died. He was 96.

Renew Our Rivers 2017 cleanup will take place Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Armuchee Creek. The group will meet at New Armuchee Baptist Church, 5385 Martha Berry Highway, for staging, breakfast and a safety talk. Participan­ts should wear boots and long pants. The cleanup will concentrat­e near the cemetery between Martha Berry Highway and Old Summervill­e Road. Boats will not be needed, but volunteers with trucks and winches to remove appliances, sofas and other items will be helpful.
