Clerk at Circle K store recovering after robbery

The robber who brutally beat the 24-year-old woman remains at large Sunday.

The robber who brutally beat a clerk at the Circle K, 1501 Martha Berry Blvd., remained at large Sunday but police are continuing to investigat­e the incident.

The 24-year-old woman was discharged from Floyd Medical Center Saturday, hospital spokesman Dan Bevels said.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

The robber, described as a 25- to 30-year-old black man, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, escaped with an undetermin­ed amount of money.

When police arrived shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, the clerk was hysterical and bleeding profusely, with swelling around her eyes and face. She said she fought with the man, who punched her and kicked in the head.

The woman said she ran out of the store to a nearby house to seek help, but nobody was home. At that time she saw the robber leave the store on foot toward Summervill­e Park.

A witness outside the store, who was unaware of what had been happening, also provided a descriptio­n and confirmed the man’s direction of travel.

Ala. man charged with traffickin­g

An Alabama man was in jail without bond Sunday night, following his arrest on charge of traffickin­g in synthetic marijuana.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

John David Foster, 27, of 818 S. Market St. in Gadsden, Alabama, was arrested Saturday on a warrant accusing him of

having 902 grams of synthetic marijuana. Under Georgia law, more than four grams results in a felony traffickin­g charge.

He also was charged with two misdemeano­r counts of purchase or possession of synthetic cannabinoi­d.

Police said Foster had the drug at a gas station at 2406 Gadsden Road when he was arrested Nov. 21, 2016, on other drug charges.

Report: Man broke minivan window

A Silver Creek man was in jail without bond Sunday night, accused of damaging vehicles in a business parking lot while under the influence of alcohol.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Jordan Ladell Carroll, 25, of 114 Nelson St. in Silver Creek, was arrested early Sunday morning after he used a tire iron to break the window of a minivan at Scott Logistics, 375 Technology Parkway.

Carroll then tried to break the window of a truck by throwing flower pots at it. He was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

He is facing felony charges of entering a motor vehicle with the intent to commit a theft and misdemeano­r charges of criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit a felony and public drunkennes­s.
