Man accused of robbery and aggravated assault

The arrest is made after Rome police followed up on a robbery and beating of a store clerk.

A Rome man was arrested Monday as a result of informatio­n developed by Rome police following a robbery and beating of a store clerk.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jamie Bernard Worthy, 51, of 5 Walker Drive, is alleged to have entered the Kangaroo Circle K convenienc­e store, 1501 Martha Berry Blvd., Friday night around 9:30 p.m.

The warrants charge that Worthy assaulted the female clerk, then broke open the cash register and stole $60 in cash.

When police got to the store a short time later, the clerk was bleeding heavily from the face and told police she had attempted to fight off the robber.

She fled to a neighborin­g home to try to call for help but no one was there so she returned to the store after the robber fled.

Worthy was charged with felonies for aggravated assault and robbery and was being held in the Floyd County jail Monday night without bond.

Theft, counterfei­t cash and marijuana

A Rome couple arrested Monday morning, a little over 24 hours after they alleged took a large amount of cash from the owner of a store on Smith Road.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jeremy Devonte Gordon, 24, and Macy Ann Hunt, 18, both of 2 Lucas Lane, are each charged with felony theft by taking for allegedly taking approximat­ely $3,500 from the owner of the Handy Store, 17 Smith Road, between 7:30 and 8:30 Sunday morning.

Floyd County police arrested

the pair at their residence Monday around 10:30 a.m. Police recovered five counterfei­t $100 bills from the couple at the time of their arrest along with a small amount of marijuana.

Both Gordon and Hunt were charged with felonies for theft by taking and forgery with a misdemeano­r for possession of marijuana.

Hunt was released from jail Monday on $7,500 bond however Gordon was being held in the Floyd County jail without bond Monday night.

Report: Police find stolen camper

Police found a stolen camper, valued at $6,000, at a man’s home, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Chancy Waddell Ashley, 38, of 1250 Rockmart Road, is charged with felony theft by taking and misdemeano­r failure to appear.

The 1996 Citation camper was reported stolen from an address on the 5000 block of Rockmart Road on May 1, 2016. Police reportedly found that camper at Ashley’s home.

He was being held without bond on the failure to appear charge early Monday.
