Mrs. Eloise Lambert Childs, age 84, of Rome, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at a Cedartown assisted living facility.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Autism Society of America at 430 East-West Highway, Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814 or at www. autism-society.org.

Mr. John Robert Jester Jr., age 41, of Rome, passed away on June 16, 2017. Services for Mr. Jester will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, 1 p.m. at New Life of St. John with Bishop Charles R. Johnson officiating. The body will lie in state from noon until 1 p.m. The Visitation Hour with family and friends will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Wright Memorial Chapel.

Wright Memorial Mortuary, Inc. has been entrusted with the services for Mr. John Robert Jester, Jr. with Rev. Max Tucker officiating. A private interment will be held following the service with Rev. Stanley Smith officiating.

Cherry’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the Celebration hour.

COVINGTON — A Georgia man was arrested after police say he shot someone who was fleeing from officers.

Covington police Capt. Craig Treadwell tells local media that 46-yearold Marcus Allan Pitts was charged with aggravated assault after he shot 33-year-old Terence Lee Lennox in an incident Saturday morning. Lennox was taken to an Atlanta hospital in critical condition.

Treadwell says Pitts, who he described as a “concerned citizen” with no criminal record, saw Lennox running from a crash scene and tried to block him with his truck. Pitts then got out and fired a handgun. Treadwell says the shot hit Lennox in the neck. The shooting occurred at the Newton Plaza shopping center near U.S. Route 278. No one else was injured.

It is unclear if Pitts has an attorney.
