The 45th annual Armuchee Labor Day Bluegrass Festival will be held Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at Armuchee Music Park, 899 Turkey Mountain Road. Phyllis Cole of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame will emcee. The festivitie­s will begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 31, 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 1 and 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 2. A worship service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 3. Three-day passes are $21 each. The Rome Internatio­nal Film Festival will host a free workshop on the local film festival experience Aug. 31 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the RomeFloyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway. Volunteers will share tips for enjoying the film festival, answer questions, and screen an animated film and clips from two Georgiamad­e films. A second workshop will be held Oct. 10.

Registrati­on for the 22nd annual Coosa Valley Trout Unlimited Chili Cook-off will open Sept. 1. Visit www. coosavalle­y.tu.org to register. Registrati­on will cost $50. The Knights of Columbus Labor Day Barbecue will be held Sept. 4 at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (or sold out). Guests are welcome to dine in or carry out. Options include barbecue plates, sandwiches or bulk sales. Plates will cost $9 for a choice of beef, pork, ribs or a quarter of a chicken, each served with Brunswick stew, baked beans, chips and bread. One pound of beef or pork to go will cost $9; $5 for a sandwich combo; $7 for half a chicken or a quart of baked beans; $9 for a quart of Brunswick stew; and $18 for a half-rack of spare ribs. The Friends of the Library Used Book Sale will be held Sept. 16-23 at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway. All proceeds benefit the library and the Friends of the Library. A preview sale will be held Sept. 16 from 10 a.m.4:30 p.m. for members of Friends of the Library. Tickets for nonmembers may be purchased for $5. The book sale hours will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sept. 18-21, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 22-23 and 1-5 p.m. on Sept. 17.
