- Funeral Home Charles Sorrells Dansby

Mr. Charles Sorrells Dansby, age 89 of Rockmart, passed away at his residence Monday evening, November 20, 2017.

Mr. Dansby was born November 26, 1927 in Rockmart, son of the late Daniel Monroe Dansby and the late Laura Sorrells Dansby. He graduated from Rockmart High School, class of 1945 and was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. He was veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and served in WWII. Mr. Dansby retired from General Electric with over 30 years of service.

He loved to attend the Golden Age at the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 68 years, Retha Dansby.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Dansby; two sons, Jimmy Dansby, of Loganville, Ga., and Bruce Dansby, of Huntsville, Ala.; brother, Bob Dansby, of Rome, Ga.; and a sister, Danny Mae Lancaster, of Dallas, Texas; six grandchild­ren, ten greatgrand­children and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Dansby will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bellview Baptist Church with the Rev. Owen Bud Davis Jr. and the Rev. Justin Carter officiatin­g.

Interment services will follow in the family lot of the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion BrownWrigh­t Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites. A eulogy will be given by Missy Griner and a poem by Becky Kruger.

Mr. Dansby will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Bellview Baptist Church.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearer­s: Jason Dansby, Marc Kruger, Dalton Kruger, Aaron Kruger, George Griner, and Jacob Griner.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be: Leon Cook, Charles Rayburn, Charles Dabbs, Steve Turner, David Howard, Max Moss, Irivin Austin, Mike Carter, Jeff Carter, and Edwin Owens.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Freeman Harris Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jane Fountain, age 82, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Woodstock, Ga.

Born December 5, 1934 in Pickens County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Voyd and Mauda Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Fountain, and her sister, Ruby Holbert.

She was a former member of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Silver Creek and a current member of First Baptist Church Woodstock, Ga.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Steve Mashburn (Rita), John Mashburn (Sue), Michael Mashburn (Patricia) and Tracy Sweeney (Cindy); seven brothers: Johnny Long, Wayne Long (Mildred), Coy Long (Ronda), Marvin Long (Mary), Jack Long (Lea), David Long (Kathy), and Lesley Long; two sisters: Odell Hales and Martha Ann Mulkey (Tom); eight grandchild­ren; and five great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Miller and Richards Oaknoll Chapel Funeral Home 2542 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Ga. 30165 with the Rev. Joel Walker officiatin­g.

Interment followed at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Oaknoll Chapel.
