Angelo’s pizza reopens after salmonella outbreak

-

CARTERSVILLE — Angelo’s New York Style Pizza and Bistro reopened Monday after it was reinspected by the Bartow County Health Department because of a foodborne-illness outbreak during a catered Thanksgiving meal at Toyo two weeks ago.

According to the Georgia Department of Health, the investigation is ongoing into the confirmed salmonella outbreak during the meal at Toyo Tire in White on Nov. 15.

Angelo’s New York Style Pizza and Bistro, in Cartersville, voluntarily closed last week when it was inspected last Wednesday.

“We plan to conclude interviews with Toyo employees who attended the event by end of day Tuesday and hope to identify the food product that caused the outbreak,” Georgia Department of Public Health Public Information Officer Logan Boss said in a press release Monday. “We will release that information, if conclusive, which it may not be, when available.”

Police looking for 2 after shooting

DALTON — Dalton police are looking for two white males in connection with the shooting of a Dalton teen Monday evening, according to police spokesman Bruce Frazier.

Officers were sent to an upstairs apartment at 408 Wrinkle St. around 5 p.m. They found an 18-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the face and shoulder.

“He (the victim) was conscious and talking when officers arrived,” said Frazier.

Frazier said the victim, whom he did not identify, was taken to Hamilton Medical Center and was to be airlifted to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga.

“I don’t have anything further on his condition at this time,” said Frazier Monday evening.

“From talking to some witnesses on the scene, we think we pretty confidently can say we are talking about two suspects, but as far as a description, I don’t have anything right now,” Frazier said.
