RACA wraps up 2017 having funded several community projects, asking for support

The Rome Area Council for the Arts is finishing 2017 with their second quarter grant awards and membership drive.

Each quarter, The Rome Area Council for the Arts provides grants to support projects and organizations that utilize the arts to increase economic, social, and educational awareness and vitality in our community.

“We were thrilled to fund some wonderful projects this quarter, including three groups that have never applied for a RACA grant before” said Executive Director Mandy Maloney.

Among the groups funded were the Rome Shakespeare Festival, Rome Symphony Orchestra, Rome Little Theater, as well as newcomers Destiny Independence, USA, Kindermusik of Berry College, and the Ridge and Valley Storytelling Guild.

“These groups have wonderful projects in store in the coming year that will really showcase the artistic talent here in Rome and provide immersive experiences for our community,” Maloney said. All this is made possible through the support of RACA’s donors and members. Each year RACA’s members and donors ensure the organization can continue its work of providing advocacy for area artists and arts organizations by supporting a dynamic community-based arts environment through arts programming, education, promotion, and community outreach. In 2018, they hope to fund as many grants as possible and complete the construction of an arts amphitheater and exhibition space to be utilized by the community’s artists.
