Jerry D. Allmon
Mr. Jerry D. Allmon, age 82, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in a local hospital.
Mr. Allmon was born in Rome, Ga. on September 20, 1935, son of the late Farris and Rilla Irving Allmon. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Charles “Buddy” Allmon. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for a number of years with Syntec Industries here in Rome. A local barber, Mr. Allmon operated Jerry’s Barber Shop and worked with his brother at Garden Lakes Barber Shop. He was a member of the Lindale Lodge #455 F. & A.M. and was a member of the Rome Shrine Club. Mr. Allmon attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Josephine “Jo” Kinsey, to whom he was married on April 15, 1956; three daughters, Lynn Parker, and her husband, Jerrell, Denton, Texas; Kathy Steed, and her husband, Jerry, Cedar Bluff, Ala.; and Linda Wynn, and her husband, Clint, Rome; two brothers, Lonnie Allmon, Lindale, and Bobby Allmon, Rome; three grandchildren, Hayden and Sydney Shuler, both of Rome, and Noah Parker, Denton, Texas; several step-greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at noon in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with Lindale Lodge #455 F. & A.M. having charge of graveside Masonic rites.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and include Jerrell Parker, Jerry Steed, Clint Wynn, Farris Allmon, William Allmon, Joseph Burkhalter, Ricky Allmon, and Frankie Johnson.
