Bitter cold and snow are expected throughout today

Northwest Georgia is under a winter weather advisory from 10 a.m. today through 7 a.m. Wednesday because of dangerously cold wind chills and expected snow accumulation.
Rome and Floyd County schools have said they’ll notify students early in the morning whether school will be in session.
At a National Weather Service briefing on Monday forecasters said there is a growing confidence in predictions our area will get snow accumulation of less that one inch.
Flurries could start as early as 7 a.m. in the northernmost portions of the state and are expected to continue through this evening.
Really cold temperatures are expected with wind chills in the single digits. Tuesday’s high is expected near 41 with the temperatures dropping throughout the day to a low around 12.
There is around a 60 percent chance of precipitation throughout the day.
On Wednesday, it will be sunny and bitter cold with a high near 30 but wind chill values as low as -3.
Wednesday night’s now is expected around 16.
Temperatures will begin warming up somewhat on Thursday and Friday with highs expected in the 40s and a high near 57 expected on Saturday.
