We will celebrate the life of Beverly Godhigh on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple RPC. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Morningview Cemetery.

Ms. Geraldine Cooke-Cooper, age 79, of Cedartown, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Cedar Valley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services for Ms. Geraldine Cooke-Cooper will be Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Polk County, 85 Morgan Road, Aragon, Ga. Brother Darnell Watkins will preside. Interment will follow the services at Rose Hill Cemetery, Rockmart, Ga.

Mrs. Mellitta “Millie” Johnston Rush, age 82, of Canton, formerly of Rome, passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 27, 2018.

Mr. James Lamar “Big Jim” Morris, Sr., age 81, of Centre, Ala., formerly of Rome, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 23, 2018, in a Centre, Ala. health care facility.

Mr. Morris was born in Silver Creek, Ga. on Feb. 3, 1936, son of the late Jewell Simpson Morris, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Tillery Morris. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jewell Simpson “Pug” Morris, Jr., by a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jo Pullen Morris, and by a granddaughter, Ashley Morris. Mr. Morris was a retired well-known local Business Entrepreneur and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his three children, James L. “Little Jim” Morris, Jr., Silver Creek, Johnny Morris, and his wife, Tracey, Adairsville, and Connie Morris, Rome; a sister, Peggy Ruth Morris Ware, and her husband, Dan, Lindale; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at the graveside in Pleasant Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Detweiler will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1 pm until 3 p.m.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and include: Willie Barnett, Jerry Looney, Rick Sitten, Mike Ware, Bill Cox, and Karl Kilgo.

Mr. Robert Frank Sexton, age 76, of Rome, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at a local hospital.

Mr. Sexton was born on November 3, 1941 to the late H.J. (Pap) Sexton and Estelle (Pet) Kinsey Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a Truck Driver for Manis Building and Trend Mills. Mr. Sexton was also the owner/operator at Little Rock Cafe in Adairsville, Ga. Mr. Sexton worked at S&H Supermarket for several years as the production manager.

Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fonda Sexton, his two brothers: H.E. (Mary) Sexton, Paul (Alice) Sexton, and one sister Betty (Doyal) Penson.

Survivors include nephews: Leslie (Belinda) Sexton, M.K. (Toni) Engram, nieces: Vickie Milsap, Melinda Meeks, Debra Williams, several cousins also survive.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1370 Kingston Highway, Kingston, Ga., 30145, with the Rev. Jerry Branton officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, Ga., 30165.
