Take Care of Rome hosts a free health fair for the homeless and underserved from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the
first Saturday of each month at the Community Kitchen, 4 Calhoun Ave. The fair includes health education, testing for HIV and hepatitis C, total cholesterol and HgBA1c screenings, blood pressure, vision screenings and full vitals. Gathering fundraiser for local charities will be held at the Forum River Center on Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Scheduled guests include Rome Braves manager Rocket Wheeler, hitting coach Bobby Moore, pitching coach Dan Meyer, new trainer Vic Scarpone, new Rome Braves General Manager Jim Bishop, Atlanta Braves Manager Brian Snitker, Atlanta Braves Assistant Director of Player Development Jonathan Schuerholz, Minor League Administration Manager Ron Knight, Director of Scouting Brian Bridges and former Rome Braves player Braeden Schlehuber. Activities include all-youcan-eat food, a questionand-answer opportunity, an autograph session and a silent auction of sports memorabilia. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door for adults; $10 in advance, $12 at the door for children; and $25 in advance, $30 at the door for VIP passes. The Georgia Highlands College men’s and women’s basketball teams
will be playing to raise cancer awareness with a benefit game on Feb. 7 at Georgia Highlands College, 3175 Cedartown Highway, at 5:30 p.m. The benefit game is in honor of Holly Ford, wife of Dean of Natural Sciences and Physical Education Greg Ford, who is currently battling cancer.
