A taste of Rome
Georgia’s Rome Flavor Tours have begun and locals as well as visitors can experience the culinary delights of downtown Rome on the first Saturday of each month.
The tours feature several Broad Street restaurants in a progressive style meal format.
Each tour lasts about two hours with stops at four to five locations around Broad Street. The Roman Chariot transports participants to each location where featured restaurants serve a specific dish corresponding to a meal course along the tour.
The menu and restaurants featured on the tours change monthly so no two tours are exactly alike.
Each tour has a maximum of 10 participants. Tickets are usually $34 (except in the case of specialty tours) and include the price for all restaurants, transportation and gratuity.
Upcoming tours include a Feb. 10. Valentine’s Tour, a specialty tour starting at noon, which includes a chocolate and wine tasting for $45. Also on Feb. 10 is another specialty tour, a Couples-Only tour starting at 2:30 p.m. which will also feature chocolate and wine tasting for $45.
On March 10 there will be a St. Patty’s/Irish tour starting at noon and costing $35.
April 14 will feature a Taste of Rome starting at noon and costing $35 and a Spirits of Rome tour starting at 6 p.m. which will cost between $30 and $40.
On June 9 a Victorian tour will partner with the Rome Shakespeare Festival. The price is yet to be determined.
