A Rome man accused of firing a gun at a police officer was being held without bond Saturday in the Floyd County Jail. According to jail records: Deryan Tyrek Almond, 21, of 512 Ashland Park Blvd., was arrested Friday on a warrant accusing him of shooting at a Rome officer from the back seat of a vehicle during an Oct. 7 incident on Tamassee Lane.
Almond is charged with felony aggravated assault on an officer during the performance of his duties and misdemeanor failure to appear for a court date.
3 bond out on felony meth charges
Three people facing felony methamphetamine charges were released from jail Saturday on bond.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Timothy Lee Burton, 58, of 483 Old River Road, was pulled over for a faulty brake light as he was driving a truck late Friday on Shorter Ave.
Sheila Ann Waites, 47, of 5 Payne Road, and Johnny Wesley Highfield, 57, of 10 Elliott Circle, were passengers in the vehicle from which several baggies of meth were thrown when an officer asked them to step out.
All three are charged with felony possession of meth.
Waites, who had seven baggies of suspected meth and admitted she planned to sell them, was additionally charged with felony possession with intent to distribute.
Drug charge follows report of shoplifting
An Armuchee woman accused of shoplifting while carrying cocaine was released from jail Saturday on bond.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Lara Elizabeth Roden, 31, of 4860 Haywood Valley Road in Armuchee, was arrested Friday night at Belk, 2770 Martha Berry Highway, after she was seen stealing cosmetics valued at $30. A search turned up cocaine in her purse.
Roden is charged with misdemeanor shoplifting and felony possession of cocaine.
Woman reportedly threatens to kill man
A Rome woman was released on bond Saturday after her arrest on a felony charge of making terroristic threats.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Michelle Renee Mostiller, 42, of 28 Paris Drive, was arrested at her home Friday evening after an independent witness confirmed she threatened to kill a man.
Man arrested with gun awaits transfer
Bond was set Saturday for a Tallapoosa man arrested in Rome but he was still being held in jail for two other jurisdictions.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Steven Michael Stroup, 27, of 320 McDonald St., Tallapoosa, was arrested late Friday on Chateau Drive after he was caught with a revolver and a pipe containing marijuana residue.
Stroup’s bond was set at $5,700 on charges of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of a drug-related object.
He was being held on unspecified charges for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Tallapoosa Police Department.
