The Disabled American Veterans of Chapter 95 will be at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway, on Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to assist veterans in filing benefits claims with the Veterans Administra­tion. The Rome African Violet Study Group will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rome Federated Garden Center, 100 E. Eighth St. The program will be on growing African Violets under LED lights followed by play in the dirt.

Take Care of Rome hosts a free health fair for the homeless and underserve­d from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the

first Saturday of each month at the Community Kitchen, 4 Calhoun Ave. The fair includes health education, testing for HIV and hepatitis C, total cholestero­l and HgB-A1c screenings, blood pressure, vision screenings and full vitals. Berry College Associate Professor of Biology Renee’ Carleton will give a lecture about bald eagles at 6 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum, 24 Veterans Memorial Highway. The lecture is the first installmen­t of the five-part Sanctuary at Berry Lecture Series that focuses on the research and experience of faculty members with various species found on the Berry campus. Carleton will address the biology and behavior of bald eagles, general eagle ecology, the history of decline and recovery and the Berry eagle story. The lecture is free and open to the public.
