Senior Gospel Singers meet every Monday from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway, and every Thursday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Shannon Scout Hut in Shag Williams Park, 40 Minshew Road, Shannon. The Georgia Mountain Music Club will have an instrumental jam session every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. Musicians are asked to bring nonelectrical instruments such as guitars, fiddles, banjos, harmonicas, upright bass or mandolin. Visitors are welcome. Admission is free. TUESDAY
The Floyd County Board of Commissioners will meet on Tuesday in the Community Room, Suite 206, at the Floyd County Administration Building, 12 E. Fourth Ave. Caucus will begin at 4 p.m. in the Commissioners Caucus Room, Suite 204, followed by the Board Meeting at 6 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.
The Billy Freeman Korean War Veterans Association Post 1 will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 52, 1205 Calhoun Ave. All members are urged to attend. For more information call Charles Patterson at 706-234-8424.

The Disabled American Veterans of Chapter 95 will be at the RomeFloyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway, on Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to assist veterans in filing benefits claims with the Veterans Administration. The Exchange Club of Rome will present a program by Devon Executive Director of the William S. Davies Homeless Shelters Goddard Smyth on Friday. She will speak about the men’s shelter and the Ruth and Naomi Project, a 12-bed facility for single women and mothers. A Georgia Power contractor will close Horseleg Creek Road to through-traffic Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon to remove a dead tree. Work will be taking place near 1711 Horseleg Creek Road and Huntington Road. Residents who live beyond the point of closure will be able to access Horseleg Creek Road via the West Rome Bypass.

The Rome-Floyd NAACP will hold their annual Freedom Fund Banquet on June 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rome First United Methodist Church Garnett M. Wilder Center, 202 E. Third Ave. Georgia NAACP President Phyllis Blake will be the guest speaker. The theme is “Women of Freedom.” Tickets are $35 for ages 13 and up, $15 for ages 12 and under or $280 for a table of eight. The Friendly River Homemaker Club will be offering homemade desserts including cakes, dessert cups and pies from $1.50-$25.
The 33rd annual Cave Spring Independence Day parade will be held July 4 at 9 a.m. in downtown Cave Spring. Line-up will be from 8-9 a.m. All vehicles, floats with wheels and horses line up on Perry Farm Road. Those wishing to walk in the parade should assemble at Joe Hill’s Lawn Mower Shop, 23 Alabama St. Cave Spring United Methodist Church will be selling homemade ice cream.
