Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home will host the annual Chieftains Low Country Boil & Barbecue at 7 p.m. today at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive. The event will feature an open bar and all-you-can-eat buffet, live auction and potted-plant centerpiec­es available for sale. Raffle tickets for a $500 cash drawing are available for $20 each at the museum or at the event. Event tickets are $75 for individual­s, $600 for a table for eight, and $750 for a table for 10. The annual Rome Shrine Club Telethon will be held starting at 6 p.m. today through Sunday. The event will be televised on Comcast channel 4 and will feature Southern Gospel groups along with an auction from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. All net funds raised will go to pay children’s medical expenses and research expenses at Shriners Hospitals.

Living & Giving and Pop Up, Pop In, 401 Broad St., will host a farmers market on Saturday

from 8 a.m.-noon. All vendors will be local and there will be fresh bread and cheese for sale in addition to other items.

Downtown Rome Saturdays will be this Saturday with a free concert on Broad Street featuring Electric Avenue, an ’80s pop tribute band. The concert will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Fourth Avenue. Access to Broad Street will be blocked off to vehicle traffic in the 300 and 400 blocks from 4-11 p.m. Outside coolers and drinks will not be permitted in the event area. Armbands will be available for purchase of alcoholic beverages. Free parking will be available at the Third, Fourth and Sixth Avenue decks. The concert will be held rain or shine. For questions

The Robert Stevenson Memorial Concert will be held Saturday at the Rome City Auditorium, 601 Broad St. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the concert will begin at 5 p.m. Performers include co-headliners Canton Spirituals and Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites, The Gospel Legends, The Fantastic Violinaire­s and Roy and Revelation. Trinity United Christian Church, 6 Deer Run Trail, will have

a barbecue fundraiser on Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Plates for $8 will include baked beans, slaw, white bread and sauce on the side. Brownies will cost $1. Whole butts will cost $30 each and should be ordered by calling 912-547-3298.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2526 Cedartown Highway, will hold a potluck and community health rally Saturday from 1-5 p.m. The rally will include giveaways and informatio­n on health.

Soul Fest of Rome will be held at Ridge Ferry Park, 363 Riverside Parkway, on Saturday from 2-10 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Parking will cost $5 at the gate.
