Marcelle Touchstone Grigsby

Mrs. Marcelle Touchstone Grigsby, age 100, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at a local assisted living facility.

Mrs. Grigsby was born in Floyd County, Ga. on August 13, 1917, daughter of the late Grady Jett Touchstone and the late Olyra Martin Touchstone. She was a graduate of Armuchee High School and prior to retirement was associated with Advanced Glove for 33 years. Mrs. Grigsby was a member of New Armuchee Baptist Church and was a devoted and active participan­t with the church choir, Joy Club, senior adult choir, and T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She was a longtime resident at Riverwood Senior Living Center and well known in lots of circles. Marcelle was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Hugh” Grigsby; by four sisters, Evelyn Duke, Ezma Aycock, Mary Helen Rogers, and Pauline Dew; by a brother, Raymond Touchstone; by a son, Glenn Grigsby; and by a granddaugh­ter, Karen Woodall Bankson.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Grigsby Woodall, and her husband, Lynn, Armuchee; a grandson, Kevin Mark Woodall, Armchee; two great grandchild­ren, Emily Bankson Welden and her husband, Jared, Ider, Ala., and Erin Bankson Clark and her husband, Tim, Trenton, Ga.; three great, great grandchild­ren, Trinity Welden, Ella Welden, and Colton Welden; grandsonin-law, Bill Bankson, and his wife, Cindy, Trenton, Ga.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at New Armuchee Baptist Church with Dr. David Howard officiatin­g. Interment will follow in New Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at New Armuchee Baptist Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearer­s are asked to meet at the church on Saturday by 10:30 a.m. and include Kevin Woodall, Bill Bankson, Danny Dew, Bill Duke, Henry Duke, and Roland Davis.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts.
