The Georgia Mountain Music Club meets Mondays from 6-8 p.m. at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. Members and guests perform bluegrass, country and gospel music. The 525 Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will dedicate a new monument at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 20 Myrtle St., at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in observation of Purple Heart Day. The monument honors 22 local soldiers who were killed in action during the Vietnam War including Lesley S. Ayers, Alexander B. Blanton, James A. Brock, William L. Covington, Donald W. Dixon, William W. English, William E. Finley, William R. Fowler, Johnny E. Gantt, John D. Gollahon, Judson Hall, Albert J. Hayes, Joseph Hillman, Thomas S. Jones, Richard L. Justine, William G. The Exchange Club Family Resource Center will be presenting a series of workshops at Restoration Rome, 1400 Crane St. Workshops are geared toward parents of children age 12 and younger and will feature a variety of topics including discipline and financial lit-

Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful will have their community-wide litter index to assess the state of litter as well as graffiti, outside storage, junk vehicles and illegal signs at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at City Hall, 601 Broad St. Volunteers will be briefed on how to score each category at elected sites before departing in a 15-passenger bus to score sites. Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum will present “Sanctuary at Berry: Wildlife Photography by Gena Flanigen” through Aug. 18. This exhibition explores Berry College’s wild inhabitants, including a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. Berry faculty and community members will present lectures on whitetailed deer, the Berry College bald eagles, striped bass spawning and more. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office will host a church safety and security summit Aug. 25 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Forum River Center, 301 Tribune St. The event will include discussions of church security and active shooter training, stewards of children training, child safety procedures and domestic violence. The Visitors Center at Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden will have artwork on display by Summerville’s Donnie Davis through Sept. 1. Davis’ current collection is comprised of a series of paintings depicting various scenes in and around Paradise Garden. Davis teaches painting classes for adults at Paradise Garden. Paradise Garden is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
