One U.S. House seat, other state race results,
Not all the votes were in as of midnight, but with 96 percent of the precincts reporting, voters in Georgia had a good idea of how various statewide seats for constitutional offices would be filled (a strong Republican showing), as well as the U.S. Representative District 14 seat held by Rep. Tom Graves. These numbers as of midnight, before all votes were in, and will change once all votes are tallied.
Incumbent Graves pulled in 167,765 votes statewide against his Democratic opponent Steven Foster, who received 51,184 votes. In Floyd County, those numbers were 21,697 for Graves, 7,963 for Foster.
For Secretary of State, Republican Brad Raffensperger received 1,756,942 votes statewide for a win, and 20,675 from Floyd voters, while Democrat John Barrow received 1,694,313 total votes, Floyd County making up 8,440 of those votes. Libertarian Smythe DuVal only received 635 votes from Floyd, contributing to the state total of 77,721 votes.
In the Attorney General race, Republican Chris Carr (I) won with 1,824,652 votes statewide, Floyd county contributed 21,060 votes to his win. Democratic challenger Charlie Bailey received 1684666 total, with 8,520 vote from Floyd Countians.
For the Agriculture commissioner seat, Republican Gary Black (I) received 1,878,315 state votes, with 21,484 of those from Floyd County. Democratic candidate Fred Swann lagged behind with 1,613,835 statewide votes, 7,926 from Floyd County.
It appears that Republican: Jim Beck will be the next Insurance Commissioner. He had 1,792,717 votes statewide at midnight, with 20,768 Floyd County votes. This compared to his opponent Democrat Janice Laws’ 1,623,318 statewide votes, 8,009 from Floyd, and Libertarian Donnie Foster’s 92,728 with 807 Floyd votes.
Republican Richard Woods (I) should retain his seat as State school superintendent, he had 1,885,662 statewide votes with Floyd contributing 21,748 votes. His opponent Otha E. Thornton Jr., a Democrat, received 1,624,616 with Floyd voters casting 7,907 votes for Thornton.
For the Labor commissioner seat, Republican Mark Butler (I) garnered 1,885,662 votes statewide, 21,512 coming from Floyd, while Democrat: Richard Keatley received 1,638,479 votes with 8,041 from Floyd.
In the Public Service Commission District 3 race, Republican Chuck Eaton (I) kept his seat with 1,767,723 votes in the state, 20,575 votes from Floyd voters. Democrat Lindy Miller managed 1,645,623 statewide votes, with only 8,246 from Floyd voters. Libertarian Ryan Graham Floyd nicked 93,142 votes from the other two candidates, with 750 of those coming from Floyd County.
And in the PSC District 5 race, Republican Tricia Pridemore (I) remain seated as well with 1,786,006 votes statewide, 20,857 voters from Floyd contributing, while Democrat Dawn A. Randolph brought in 1,629,993 votes statewide, with Floyd voters offering 7,932 votes. Libertarian John Turpish didn’t fare as well, with 87,973 votes as of midnight, 765 of those votes came from Floyd County.
