Felon ac­cused of shoot­ing at a per­son on Crane Street

A Rome man ac­cused of shoot­ing at some­one early Tues­day morn­ing on Crane Street was in jail with­out bond on mul­ti­ple felony charges.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail records:

Michael Sylvester Den­nis, 31, of 202 Pen­ning­ton Ave., was ar­rested at 4 a.m. — two hours af­ter he shot at an un­named vic­tim, also en­dan­ger­ing the safety of an­other per­son.

A search war­rant turned up a semi­au­to­matic ri­fle, a semi­au­to­matic hand­gun and mul­ti­ple dig­i­tal scales with mar­i­juana residue. A K9 brought in also found sus­pected mar­i­juana in the process of be­ing de­stroyed, sus­pected co­caine and a bag­gie of uniden­ti­fied pills.

Den­nis is charged with the felonies ag­gra­vated as­sault, use of a firearm dur­ing a crime, pos­ses­sion of a firearm by a con­victed felon, pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule I con­trolled sub­stance and pos­ses­sion of co­caine.

He’s also fac­ing mis­de­meanor charges of dis­charg­ing a firearm near a pub­lic street, tam­per­ing with ev­i­dence, pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana and reck­less con­duct.

Den­nis also was ar­rested on war­rants re­lated to a Sept. 30 in­ci­dent on East 15th Street in which he struck an un­named per­son in the face. He’s charged with two felony counts of ter­ror­is­tic threats and acts and mis­de­meanor bat­tery.

Sil­ver Creek man jailed on drug charges af­ter sus­pi­cious per­son re­port

Po­lice served a Sil­ver Creek man with sev­eral out­stand­ing war­rants and he’s fac­ing a pa­role vi­o­la­tion af­ter his ar­rest on felony drug charges.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail records:

Scotty Michael Craig, 27, of 1743 Old Rock­mart Road in Sil­ver Creek, was ar­rested at 3:25 a.m. Tues­day af­ter a re­port of a sus­pi­cious per­son on Park Av­enue near Booze Moun­tain Road.

The re­spond­ing of­fi­cer saw Craig drop a green bag in a ditch and, when ques­tioned about it, Craig ran away. He was cap­tured af­ter a short foot chase. The bag con­tained a large quan­tity of a pack­aged crys­talline sub­stance and a dig­i­tal scale.

Craig was charged with felony pos­ses­sion of metham­phetamine and pos­ses­sion with in­tent to distribute along with mis­de­meanor loi­ter­ing or prowl­ing and two counts of ob­struc­tion.

He also was charged on mis­de­meanor war­rants con­nected with a Sept. 28 wreck on Willing­ham Street that caused more than $500 worth of dam­age: driv­ing too fast for con­di­tions, reck­less driv­ing, driv­ing with­out a li­cense and fail­ing to re­port an ac­ci­dent re­sult­ing in prop­erty dam­age.

He was be­ing held Tues­day with­out bond.

Po­lice: Rome woman had meth, sy­ringes

A Rome woman fac­ing a felony drug charge was in jail with­out bond Tues­day.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail records:

Ni­cole Lu­cille Rinker, 30, of 702 Gi­ra­sol Ave., was ar­rested Tues­day morn­ing at her home with a bag­gie of metham­phetamine and mul­ti­ple sy­ringes.

Rinker was be­ing held in the med­i­cal block on a felony charge of meth pos­ses­sion and mis­de­meanor pos­ses­sion of drug-re­lated ob­jects. Diane Wag­ner, staff writer

Traf­fic stop leads to drug ar­rest

A traf­fic stop near the in­ter­sec­tion of Cal­houn Road and Yale Road Mon­day night re­sulted in a felony drug ar­rest.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Cory Ryan Rober­son, 30, of 3850 Kingston High­way, was ar­rested around 7 p.m. and charged with felony pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule I con­trolled sub­stance along with mis­de­meanor driv­ing on a sus­pended or re­voked li­cense, fail­ure to main­tain a lane and pos­ses­sion of drug re­lated ob­jects.

Jail doc­u­ments do not in­di­cate what kind of con­trolled sub­stance Rober­son had.

Rober­son was re­leased from jail Tues­day on $5,700 bond.

Rome man jailed af­ter hold­ing two against their will

A Rome man is charged with felony false im­pris­on­ment fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent at his home.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Jef­frey Stu­art Price, 58, of 1701 North Broad Street, was ar­rested at his res­i­dence just be­fore mid­night Mon­day and charged with felony false im­pris­on­ment. He is ac­cused of nail­ing a side door in the res­i­dence shut, pro­hibit­ing two peo­ple from leav­ing the room and home.

Price was re­leased from jail Tues­day on bond of $3,500.

Woman charged with mo­tor ve­hi­cle theft

A Rome woman has been charged with felony theft by tak­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle dur­ing an in­ci­dent on Dec. 30.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail re­ports:

Julie Evelyn Bo­dine, 24, of 11 Morn­ing­side Drive, is ac­cused of steal­ing a ve­hi­cle af­ter the owner asked her to give it back.

She is also be­ing held in the Floyd County Jail with­out bond on a felony fail­ure to ap­pear war­rant. She also faces a mis­de­meanor hit and run charges. Doug Walker, as­so­ciate ed­i­tor
