League, will in­stall of­fi­cers for 2019 at their break­fast

meet­ing at 8:30 a.m. today at Pis­gah Bap­tist Church, 5603 Alabama Road. The church’s Broth­er­hood mem­bers will serve break­fast. Com­man­dant Tom Beavers will an­nounce the De­tach­ment’s “Ma­rine of the Year” and present ser­vice awards.

Re­union Com­mit­tee will meet today at 1 p.m. at the Kelsey-Ay­cock-Bur­rell Cen­ter, 41 Washington Drive. West­ern Square Dance Prom­e­naders Club, 327 Woods Road, will host an Open House Ex­trav­a­ganza at the Barn with free, in­tro­duc­tory, Western­style square dance les­sons on today, Jan. 19 and Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. each evening. The Berry Col­lege Chap­lain’s Of­fice will host Re­becca DeYoung, a phi­los­o­phy pro­fes­sor at Calvin Col­lege, dis­cussing vices and virtues in re­la­tion to spir­i­tual for­ma­tion at 7 p.m. on Mon­day in the Kran­nert Spruill Ball­room, Berry Col­lege, 2277 Martha Berry High­way. DeYoung’s fo­cus of study is ethics, an­cient and medieval phi­los­o­phy and Thomas Aquinas’ work with ethics and the seven deadly sins. The lec­ture is free and open to the pub­lic. Cat­mull is pres­i­dent of Pixar & Walt Dis­ney An­i­ma­tion Stu­dios and Dis­ney­toon Stu­dios and has been hon­ored with five Academy Awards in­clud­ing the Gor­don E. Sawyer Award for his life­time of tech­ni­cal con­tri­bu­tions and lead­er­ship in the field of com­puter graph­ics for the mo­tion picture in­dus­try. Ad­mis­sion is free, but tick­ets are re­quired and must be picked up in ad­vance. Tick­ets will be avail­able be­gin­ning Mon­day.
