3 men arrested on drugs, alcohol, weapons charges

Rome police have filed multiple charges against three men after a probable cause search of a vehicle they were stopped in on Mississipp­i Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Fernando Reyes Cornejo, 20, of 1178 Highway 225, Chatsworth; Luis Estaban Pizano, 18, of 32 Wilma Drive; and Carlos Alberto Jiminez, 18, of 425 Decatur St., were in a vehicle that was pulled over Saturday morning. During a search, police recovered a digital scale and rolling papers were found in plain sight.

Police also recovered a Glock handgun from the center console. The weapon had been reported stolen in Rome back in November. Another weapon with one round loaded in the chamber was recovered from a passenger-side door pocket.

Cornejo was charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property and misdemeano­rs for possession of a concealed weapon, possession of drugrelate­d objects and possession of alcoholic beverage by a person under the legal age.

Pizaro was charged with misdemeano­rs for possession of a concealed weapon, for possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol by a person under the legal age and possession of a firearm by a person under the legal age.

Jiminez was charged with misdemeano­rs for possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a person under the legal age.

2 charged with intent to distribute meth

A man and woman have been arrested at a local motel and charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine with the intent to distribute.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

John Ira Hartson, 40, of 10 Glover St., and Elena Moree Blitch, 35, of 410 Ashland Park Blvd., were arrested late Friday night after officers recovered two sets of digital scales, a pipe used to smoke narcotics and quantities of suspected methamphet­amine, marijuana, gabapentin, hydrocodon­e and clonazepam from the room they were in.

Both are charged with felonies for possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of meth, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV drug and possession of a Schedule IV drug with the intent to distribute as well as misdemeano­rs for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drugrelate­d objects, possession of marijuana.

Hartson also faces a felony probation violation while Blitch was also charged with possession of drugs not in an original container.

Man charged with aggravated stalking

Floyd County Police have accused a Rome man of felony aggravated stalking after he struck a victim while he was under a conditiona­l bond to have no violent contact with her.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Daniel Walters Patrick, 48, of 12 Friar Tuck Drive, was arrested late Friday night following an altercatio­n involving Patrick, a female victim and her father. Police claim Patrick struck the woman in the face during the incident.

Patrick was also charged with a misdemeano­r for simple assault.

Report: Police find man with meth, pot

A Rome man was arrested for possession of drugs following a traffic stop on Martha Berry Boulevard.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Richard William Poole, 34, of 7 Friar Tuck Road, was stopped in the 1300 block of Martha Berry Boulevard just before midnight Friday. Police found both meth and marijuana in his possession.

Poole was charged with felony possession of meth, and misdemeano­rs for possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license.

Whitfield woman charged with heroin

A consent search of a Whitfield County woman on Sunset Drive in Rome turned up a quantity of suspected heroin in a syringe.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Toni Mikale Steadman, 27, of 2276 Shannondal­e Place, Dalton, was arrested early Saturday morning after police recovered a syringe with the suspected heroin in her possession. She was charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

Report: Man caught with 2 stolen cards

Rome Police have charged a local resident with two counts of felony financial transactio­n fraud and misdemeano­r theft by taking for an incident that is alleged to have occurred on New Year’s Day.

Toby Lance Eden, 26, of 88 Northridge Court, is alleged to have been caught with two financial transactio­n cards issued to a local woman. He is accused of obtaining more than $400 worth of merchandis­e using the stolen cards.

Eden is also charged with a parole violation. Doug Walker, associate editor
